Knowledge Blogs zwischen Kompetenz, Autonomie und sozialer Eingebundenheit

Weblogs are resounded throughout the land, but the scientific debate about it is still in the beginning. This article takes up the subject of blogs and this deficit: the meaning of Knowledge Blogs in connection with Knowledge Work and Personal Knowledge Management. The main goal is to analyze Knowledge Blogs in context with the Self-Determination Theory of Deci and Ryan and to reinterpret existing empirical data against the background of this theory. The core concepts of this theory – psychological human needs for competence, relatedness and autonomy, as well as different forms of volitional or self-determined acts of regulation – are therefore conferred to Knowledge Blogs. The last part focuses on the use in the field of work and the scientific potential in the future – what steps could be taken next, what research is necessary to get a more detailed insight to the high potential of knowledge blogs?
